Chairman of the Board of Trustees of HC «Siberia», Governor Andrei Travnikov held a traditional pre-season meeting with the management and staff of the club, set the objectives for the season.
The Governor was introduced to the new coaching staff, led by Canadian David Nemirovski, as well as the new players who were presented with game jerseys.
Andrei Travnikov thanked the players who participated in the previous KHL championship: "The season was interesting, with intrigue. The minimum goal - to make the playoffs - was accomplished. Thanks for 2022-23! As for the new season - guys, sorry, I can't formulate the minimum task, because the fans' expectations are higher. First, the team made the playoffs the previous two years, and the fans expect further development. Secondly, there are conditions for games and training in a new arena, in a new palace. And third, the strong fan support from the stands of the new arena will be twice as strong this season as it was last year. Therefore, I can only formulate the maximum task - we must fight for the championship prizes. I wish you good luck, health, and we will provide support!" - emphasized the Governor.
Also, the head of the region handed the team a souvenir - a statue of a hockey player with engraved on it lines from the anthem of our club, which the players will hear at every home match: "You will feel how the stands rumble at the words "Go, Siberia!"".
In response, team representative Egor Alanov presented the Governor with a wall clock symbolizing a new countdown at the new arena and thanked the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of HC "Sibir" Andrey Travnikov for the continued support of the club.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Governor Maxim Kudryavtsev, Minister of Physical Culture and Sports of the Novosibirsk Region Sergei Akhapov, General Director of HC Sibir Kirill Fastovsky, head coach David Nemirovsky, hockey players, coaching staff and staff of the team "Sibir".
The general rehearsal for Sibir before the season was participation in the Puchkov Tournament in St. Petersburg, where Novosibirsk took third place.
Russian-Canadian hockey player David Nemirovsky was selected in the 1994 NHL Draft in the 4th round at No. 84 overall by the Florida Panthers. In addition to North American leagues, he played in Sweden and Finland. Since 2003 he played for Russian clubs: Khimik (Voskresensk), Ak Bars (Kazan), SKA (St. Petersburg), CSKA (Moscow). In 2009-2010 he played for Barys (Astana) and Dynamo (Minsk). In 2018-2022. - Head coach of HC Torpedo (Nizhny Novgorod). In four full seasons, led Torpedo to the KHL Championship playoffs three times; the 2021-2022 season, in which Torpedo failed to make the playoffs, was ended early due to a pandemic.
Sibir's rookies for today are forwards Artem Mikheev, Pavel Gogolev and Andy Andreoff (Canada), and defensemen Fyodor Gordeev and Dinar Khamidullin.

Only a few days are left before the start of the new season of the Continental Hockey League - Russian Ice Hockey Championship 2023-2024. Already next Saturday, September 2, Novosibirsk will play away against Avangard in Omsk in their debut match.
